WHO WE ARE

We are health and service providers that support the health and well-being of refugees, asylees, and immigrants in Washington state. We work at community clinics, hospitals, educational and academic institutions, resettlement agencies, mental health agencies and ethnic and issues based community organizations. This group was previously called the New Arrivals Working Group, and was cited in the American Journal of Public Health as an example of innovative collaboration on behalf of refugees.

MISSION

The mission of the NWIRHC (Northwest Immigrant and Refugee Health Coalition) is founded with the goal of promoting health equity for refugees, asylees and immigrants. We recognize that to meet this goal we must address the social determinants of health, and that the health of a population depends on access to security from all forms of violence and harassment, access to opportunities to gain economic independence, access to health care, and access to education. The NWIRHC works to support immigrants in the Western Washington community to thrive and realize these ideals.
